Surha LailaTul Qadr

  1. “Verily, We have sent it (this Quran) down in the Night of Al-Qadr (Decree).
  2. And what will make you know what the Night of Al-Qadr (Decree) is?
  3. The Night of Al-Qadr (Decree) is better than a thousand months (i.e. worshipping Allah in that night is better than worshipping Him a thousand months, i.e. 83 years and four months).
  4. Therein descend the angels and the Rooh [ Jibreel (Gabriel)] by Allah’s Permission with all Decrees,
  5. (All that night), there is peace (and goodness from Allah to His believing slaves) until the appearance of dawn”.

We sent it (this Quran) down on a blessed night [(i.e. the Night of Al-Qadr) in the month of Ramadan]. Verily, We are ever warning [mankind that Our Torment will reach those who disbelieve in Our Oneness of Lordship and Our Oneness of worship]. Therein (that night) is decreed every matter of ordainments. As a Command (or this Quran or the Decree of every matter) from Us. Verily, We are ever sending (the Messengers) (As) a mercy from your Lord. Verily, He is the All-Hearer, the All-Knower.”

Ramadan In Light of Hadith

Abu Hurayrah (RA) reported, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said:

“When there comes the month of Ramadan, the gates of mercy are opened, and the gates of Hell are locked, and the devils are chained”- Al-Bukhari.

“Whoever spends LailaTul al-Qadr in prayer out of faith and in the hope of reward, will be forgiven his previous sins.” – Narrated by al-Bukhari, 1910; Muslim, 760.

Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said further:

“Fasting is a shield. If one of you is fasting, he should avoid intimate relations with his wife and arguments. If somebody should fight or argue with him, he should say: I am fasting. By Him in whose hand is my soul, the unpleasant smell coming from the mouth of a fasting person is better in the sight of Allah than the smell of musk. There are two pleasures for the fasting person, one at the time of breaking his fast and the other when he meets his Lord; then he will be pleased because of his fasting.”

Source: Sahih Bukhari 1805, Grade: Muttafaqun Alayhi

“Whoever gives food to a fasting person with which to break his fast, he will have the reward equal to his (the fasting person), without it detracting in the slightest from the reward of the fasting person.”

Reported by al-Tirmidhi, 3/171; Saheeh al-Targheeb, 1/451.

Some Important Things To Be Kept In Mind

Gaining Taqwa

ALLAH legislated fasting for gaining Taqwa. “O you who believe, fasting has been prescribed for you as it has been prescribed upon those before you so that you may attain Taqwa.” (Soraatul Baqarah (2):183).

The meaning of Taqwa, one should protect his self from all types of sins, so we should ask some question after getting done with fast our self, has today fast is help me to go closer to ALLAH? Or it was just show off, or protects us from the fire of Hell?

Getting Closer to ALLAH

We can get ALLAH’s greeting and blessing by offering prayers, remembering ALLAH, setting in Islamic knowledge classes, reciting Holy Qur’an, offering taraaweeh prayers and those who can make for Ummah. We can also get closer to ALLAH by making I’tikaf in the last ten days of Ramadan.

Showing Patience

ALLAH has 70 times mentioned about patience and has commanded patience in more than 16 ways in Qur’an. So in fasting, we are tested from ALLAH, and He wants us to be strong willed who can follow the true meanings of Sunnah and when we show patience then ALLAH gets happy from us.

Beauty of Ramadan

Ramadan is a month of greeting and blessing. ALLAH showers a lot of virtues on beloved Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) Ummah. We all want, when we are getting Ramadan in life and try to get all greeting of GOD those, He showed us. We should use our all power to ask ALLAH forgiveness to all mistake because ALLAH forgives everyone who wants forgiveness of sin.
