History

Wasim Akram was born in 3 June 1966. He is the former Pakistani cricketer. He is a genuine left arm bowler who could bowl with speed and swing. He represented the Pakistan national cricket team in Test Cricket and One Day International matches. He is a dream cricketer. He has complete mastery over seam and swing. He is also a great reverse swinger. He has ability to move the ball in both ways in the one delivery. He destroyed the batmen with their speed and bounce. Some times he delivered the magical balls to batsmen. Wasim Akram has also ability to bat. He was a wonderful striker of the ball. Wasim Akram is regarded one of the best fast bowler in the world for all time. He holds many record in the cricket game. He took 881 wickets in the List-A cricket. He is the first bowler who reached the 500-wicket mark in the One Day International cricket. In 2002 he became the Wisden of only list of best player of all time. Wasim took 23 4-wicket hauls in ODI. In 2009 he was included in the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame. He is also the coach of Kolkata Knight Riders.

Early and Personal life

Wasim Akram was born in Lahore in a Punjabi family of Lahore. He was the student of the Government Islamia College Civil Lines Lahore. His nicked name is Swing of sultan, 2 w (waqar and wasim), and king of swing. He is a left handed batsman and left arm fast bowler. His role in the team was bowling all-rounder .Wasim Akram was included in the team by the cause of great Javed Miandad. In the age of 30, Wasim was diagnosed wit diabetes. He was very shocked because he was very healthy sportsman. And he has no history of diabetes in his family. It was strange for him because he was just 30 years old. But he recovers him with the help of doctors. Now he became the Advertiser of many medicine companies for the awareness campaigns for diabetes.
In 1995, Akram married with Huma. They have two sons. Huma was died in 2009 due to multiple organ failure.
On 7 July 2013, Wasim Akram was engaged to Melbourne women Shaniera Thompson. Wasim met with her at the tour of Melbourne in 2011. In August 2013 Wasim married with her in his house for starting the new life. On September 2014 the couple tweeted that they were expecting their first baby.

International Career

First-class cricket

He played lot of domestic cricket. In 1984-86 he played for Pakistan Automobiles Corporation. In 1988-87, 1997-98 and 2001-2002 seasons he played for Lahore. In 1988-98 he played for Lancashire. In 1992-2002 he played for Pakistan International Airline. And last in 2003 he played for Hampshire. He was very famous in the England domestic tournaments. The British fans were singing a song for Wasim. They said “Wasim for England” in the matches. In 1998 Lancashire won the ECB Trophy. At that time Wasim was the captain of the team.

Test Cricket

Akram was the only player who was not even selected in the college team or not playing any domestic game before debut the Test match. Akram made his Test debut against New Zealand for Pakistan in 1985. In his second match he took 10 wickets in the match. Before the selection into Pakistan team, he was unknown club cricketer. He came to give trials at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore Pakistan. First two days he did not get the chance to bowl. On the third day he got the chance to bowl. His performances impress the great Javed Miandad. He insisted to Board to include him into the national team.
Wasim was raising high during the late 1980s. He was the part of the team which was toured the West Inides in 1988. Injury followed him in the late 1980s. After two surgeries, he re-emerged in the 1990s. After the surgeries he played as a fast bowler who focused more on swing and accurate bowling.
He played 104 test matches for Pakistan. He scored 2898 runs with the help of (3 century, 7 fifty) in his career. His best score in test cricket is 257*. He took 414 wickets in his test career. He took 255 – wicket haul and 510 – wicket haul in his career. This bowling performance tells us how player that was.

One Day International

Wasim won 17 Man-of-the-Match awards in the Test matches. He took 4 hat-tricks in the international cricket. Two hat-tricks are in ODI and two are in Test matches. His 257 not-out runs is a record for the highest innings by a number 8 batsman in test match. He hit 12 sixes in that innings, most by anyone in the test innings.
