Akcent, formerly wordplay on accent is a multi-certified, award-winning Romanian dance-pop act whose members sing in Romanian, English, Polish and Spanish. The group consists of Adrian Sînă, the creator of the group. Akcent is a versatile singer whose all love every song.

Early Time of Akcent

Adrian Claudiu Sina known as Akcent was born and raised in Baia Mare, Maramureș, created the project in 1998. Later in 1998, he was joined by Romanian pop singer Ramona Barta to create the duet called Akcent. They released their debut single — “Ultima vara” (The last summer) along with the debut album, entitled Senzatia – The Sensation. The song “Ultima vara” (The Last Summer) managed to reach the top twenty of many airplay charts. The two sent their debut single to nationwide mainstream radio stations as early as 1999 to make it more popular. After sometimes changes had occurred, the duet turned into a boy band, due to Sina, who introduced Marius Nedelcu, Mihai Gruia and Sorin Brotnei to the project.

This debut group album, entitled În culori was released in Romania on January 10, 2002, and included the hit single “Ţi-am promis”. They came to peculiarity once with the release of their hit single “Ti-am promis” (I promised you) and reached the peak of the Romanian Top 100 during winter 2001. The album also became one of the most successful albums in the country’s recent history. Its most early achievement was that it received a Gold certification within three weeks. Some months later, it was eventually certified Platinum by the Uniunea Producătorilor de Fonograme din România. During this span, they also won multiple MTV Romania Music Awards.

Celebrity Career of Akcent

The peak of the group’s career was the international release of their breakthrough single “Kylie“, the English version of their internal hit “Dragoste de inchiriat”. Akcent’s this single “Kylie” has raised to the top of several European music charts. The “Kylie” became a moderate hit in the U.S., charting well on the Hot Dance Singles Sales chart. The single also reached the peak position in many European charts and fared well enough in countries such as the Netherlands and France.

They also participated in the Selecția Națională, with hopes of representing Romania in the Eurovision Song Contest. They united with pop singer Nicoleta Matei and entered the song “Jockero” which failed to win. It became another number-one single on the Romanian Top 100 for the band. All through the late 2000s and early 2010s, their success was continued. Their Romanian debut album In culori was released in Romania in 2002 on January 10, which had the hit single “Ti-am promis”. It was also another excitement for the listeners of Akcent.

Their English debut album French Kiss with Kylie was released in Europe in 2006 on August 23 and includes their 2 European smash hits: “Kylie” and “Jokero”. Their song French kiss the English version of 9 main is a cover of “Extemporal la dirigentie” by Stela Enache, a Romanian singer that was highly acclaimed in the 80s and whose song “Ani de Liceu” with her husband is still a hit among teenagers.

In 2009 the band released a new album, Fara Lacrimi. Two songs from the album, “Stay With Me” and “That’s My Name,” became massive hits on radio stations in Romania as well as in number of other countries including: Greece, Armenia, Russia, Poland, Turkey, Croatia, Slovenia, Hungary, Serbia, Lithuania, Bulgaria, Egypt, Pakistan, Ukraine, India, Tunisia, Azerbaijan, Jordan, Lebanon, and Albania. People only fell in love with dancey-upbeat tunes of That’s My Name, Stay With My Passion and Me. Then, Time went by; the terrific three ruled the charts with their hit singles “How Deep Is Your Love?”, “Love Stoned,” “That’s My Name,” “Stay With Me,” “My Passion,” “Feelings on Fire”, and “Chimie Intre Noi.” The ultimate brought them extreme success because of its chill-pill video and lively vocals. Akcent’s every song made listeners fan of him. Adrian is also performing around and doing gigs with the name Akcent. He has released a song “Nu Ma Tem De”, with Akcent name but only with his vocals. Furthermore, a song that was set to release in Aug “I’ve Turned Around The World” by all three members is not Adrian’s track (with an Akcent name). It is with the name “Special Girl”.
